A teenage boy who tragically drowned just weeks after immigrating to Australia has been remembered by his friends as a “bright and kind teenager”.

Klo Doh Say Dream, 15, was fishing for the first time on the Peel River in Tamworth about 2.30pm on Monday when he went into the water to retrieve a kayak that had drifted away but went under and failed to resurface.

A desperate search involving police, SES and ambulance crews discovered his body about 8.30am the following morning .

Klo Doh Say is being remembered as having “dreams of a better life and a deep love for learning” in a GoFundMe launched to support his heartbroken family.
