PORTLAND, Mich. (WOOD) — Due to the government shutdown, the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum is closed. That's left this year's ArtPrize winning piece locked inside.
“We’re all waiting to see, like everyone, what's going to happen with the government shut down and hopefully it won’t be a very long situation,” said the artist, Mark Lewanski. “I would like to get at the piece and get it moved somewhere … but all of that's on hold until we know what’s happening with the government.”
It has been days since Lewanski won and he still hasn’t been able to see, let alone show off and celebrate Arras, his 10-by-4-foot woven glass tapestry — the largest of its kind. • Arras by Mark Lewanski is displayed at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Museum for ArtPrize. (Sept. 28, 2025) • Arras by Mark
