Private-school funding question approved amid Alberta teachers' strike

The question of the Alberta government’s public funding for private schools has become a flashpoint amid the ongoing teachers’ strike.

Among all the provinces, the highest percentage of per-student funding to private schools is in Alberta, where a student departing for the private school system takes with them 70 per cent of what the government would have paid for their public school education.

On the other hand, Alberta is at the bottom of the national barrel for per-student funding for students in public schools.
