JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A St. Augustine man is continuing his fight to end Florida’s so-called ‘Free Kill’ law with a new billboard.

Daryl Perritt's son, Cameron, died in a Florida hospital back in Nov. 2024. He said he took his son to the hospital after he complained of extreme abdominal pain on Nov. 19, 2024. He said they told the medical staff Cameron had a history of blood clots, but four days later, he was dead. Perritt said because of Florida law he was not able to get information about what happened to his son nor was he able to sue for medical negligence.

Right now in Florida, if you are over 25, single, and have no children under 25 your loved ones cannot recover damages for medical negligence resulting in a death.
