President Donald Trump and congressional Republicans are taking a reputational hit due to the federal government shutdown as it goes into its second week, but Democrats aren’t escaping either.
In fact, a new Morning Consult survey found 38% of voters blame congressional Democrats for the shutdown, an increase from the 32% who blamed them prior to the shutdown. However, the congressional Republicans shoulder slightly more of the blame, according to the survey conducted from Oct. 3-5.
While 43% blame Republicans in Congress for the shutdown, it’s a figure that’s slightly down from the 45% of voters who blamed them prior to the government funding lapse.
