CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCBD) - The City of Charleston reviewed a demolition request of a historic building, which has been on Meeting Street for over a century.
280 Meeting Street is home to The Bicycle Shoppe and Theatre 99. It was also where menswear store 319 Men was located, however they closed their doors on October 1. The historical building was constructed in 1918 as a masonry building, then became home to retail stores. The brick storefront was added in 1951. The building's owner requested full demolition as several new developments are popping up in the area. However, local preservation groups and residents were in opposition.
"We saw the community really come out and submit a lot of comments online attesting to kind of the architectural uniqueness of this building relative to its su
