MENTOR, Ohio — Jackson Callahan has been playing football since he was three or four years old. The love for the game runs deep—deep enough to carry him through one of childhood's toughest battles.

At just seven years old, Jackson was diagnosed with fibroid myxoid sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Over the course of a year, he endured six or seven surgeries.

"There were a lot of times, having cancer, you're down," Jackson recalls. "It gets really sad and you know, you kind of feel alone."

A Mother's Perspective

For his mother, Rebecca Callahan, watching her son in pain was the hardest part. But even through the darkest moments, Jackson's spirit never wavered.
