Police on Wednesday, Oct. 8, asked for the public for information that would help solve the weekend fatal hit-and-run of a 16-year-old girl in Monrovia.

Monrovia Police Lt. Chad Harvey said the teen lived in Monrovia.

Police received a call about a hit-and-run involving a pedestrian in the 800 block of West Duarte Road around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5.

The teen was crossing Eighth Avenue, Harvey said, adding police believe the driver was heading east on Duarte Road.

The driver left the scene. Police do not have a description of the driver or the vehicle.

The teen died at a hospital. It wasn’t clear if authorities have released her name. A spokesperson for the medical examiner’s office couldn’t be reached for comment on Wednesday afternoon.
