KENTUCKY, USA — Ronald Exantus admitted to killing six-year-old Logan Tipton in court.

Since the jury found him not guilty by reason of insanity, Exantus was only sentenced for assault charges against Tipton's father and sisters.

He spent seven years of a 20-year sentence in prison. Good-behavior credits, time spent in jail leading up to trial and a six-month Mandatory Reentry Supervision program added up to nearly 13 years shaved off the sentence.

"He needs to be in an institution. He doesn't need to be out in the streets," Kentucky House Rep. Jason Nemes said. "If he was not guilty only because he was insane, he doesn't get to walk. He has to go somewhere. That's what keeps our people safe."
