A historic covered bridge in Lancaster County that was damaged by a vehicle this spring will close for six weeks so that permanent repairs can be made.
The Ashville Road (Route 2006) bridge, also called the Pine Grove Bridge, spans the Octoraro Creek in Little Britain Twp. at the Chester County line.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the work will begin on Monday, Oct. 20, and is expected to take about six weeks to complete.
The bridge was closed in March after it was hit by a vehicle. It reopened in April with temporary repairs.
The detour around the bridge will be in Lancaster and Chester counties. It uses Lloyds Road, Route 272, Route 3016 (Hopewell Road) and Route 3001 (Forge Road).
