JEFFERSON PARISH, La. —

Tensions are escalating between the Jefferson Firefighters Association and Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng over pay and a newly implemented social media policy.

“Personally, I think she’s incompetent and incapable of running the fire department,” said Mitch Arbaugh of the Jefferson Firefighters Association. Advertisement

“Our membership is going to decide what kind of action we need to take against her and her administration,” Arbaugh said. “Those actions could include anything from a resignation to anything else our members believe.”

Union leaders say they may call for Sheng’s resignation and that a strike remains on the table.
