Wichita small businesses feel the squeeze as prices rise and sales slow

WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) — Rising costs and slowing sales are putting pressure on locally owned shops and restaurants across Wichita. Several owners tell KAKE News they’re struggling to keep up and, in some cases, are preparing to close.

Chateau Gifts & Flower Preservation, a gift shop that has operated in Delano for nearly four decades, plans to shut its storefront by the end of the year. Owner Jana Northcut said the decision comes after years of industry headwinds.
