SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Now a full week into the government shutdown, airports across the country are reporting thousands of delays and cancelations, but at the Springfield-Branson National Airport, officials tell KY3, operations are going as expected.
According to the flight tracking website, FlightAware , since Monday, more than 12,000 flights have been delayed, and more than 1,000 have been canceled.
“There are delays all the time at the airport, weather, different weather at different airports, especially our major hubs,” said Ren Luebbering, marketing and communications director, SGF. “If there is weather in Dallas, that’s going to impact us here at SGF.”
Many of the delays across the country stem from staffing issues with air traffic controllers and TSA employees. Those employ
