PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- A Peoria man has been arrested days after a woman went to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest.

On Wednesday, Oct. 8, Calvin L. Freeman was arrested for multiple charges, including aggravated domestic battery, Peoria Police Department spokesperson Semone Roth said.

This arrest stems from an incident that occurred early Sunday morning.

Just before 5 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, officers went to a hospital after hearing that a 34-year-old woman had arrived with a gunshot wound. The injury was on her chest but she was listed in stable condition.

On Monday, detectives identified Freeman as a suspect in the case and on Wednesday, officers found and detained him in the 2400 block of West Northland Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident.
