Cops in York Region are investigating a homicide after an assault in Richmond Hill on Wednesday night.

York Regional Police said officers responded to reports of an assault in the Lorraine St.-Bernard Ave. area just before 5 p.m.

Police arrived on scene to find a 51-year-old man with serious injuries as the result of what they described as an “unprovoked attack.”

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said. He was later pronounced dead.

Cops said the suspect was arrested at the scene and there is no risk to the public.
