A little over a year after the Alexander Mountain Fire burned nearly 10,000 acres in Larimer County, a judge is scheduled to decide later this month if the man accused of starting it will go to trial.
During a preliminary hearing in 8th Judicial District Court in Fort Collins, which spanned over two court dates — July 31 and Wednesday — Judge Sarah Cure was presented with evidence and expert testimony to decide if Jason Hobby will go to trial. She’s scheduled to decide Oct. 22. If she elects to proceed, Hobby could go to trial, if an agreement isn’t made sooner.
