SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - A Lake Charles man accused of escaping the Sulphur City Jail is back in custody, according to the Sulphur Police Department.

Just before 10 p.m. Oct. 6, Hayden Adam Gillard, 23, climbed over the fence behind the jail and ran off, according to Maj. Jason Gully of SPD.

Around 7:34 tonight, police found Gillard at an address in Sulphur and arrested him, Gully said.

Gillard was originally arrested on Oct. 1 on the following counts:

Burglary

Theft

Resisting an officer

He was booked back into the Sulphur City Jail and now faces a count of escape.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office, Ward 4 Marshal’s Office, Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, and Louisiana State Police assisted Sulphur police with the investigation, Gully said.
