The Montreal Canadiens are taking on the Toronto Maple Leafs to open their 2025-26 regular season. The Canadiens have high expectations this year , as they believe they have the means to safely contend for a playoff spot. Unfortunately, their first game began in disaster when the Maple Leafs scored within the first minute.

Kapanen, a former second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft, made his debut with Montreal in 2024-25. He skated in 18 games for the Habs in the regular season, notching two assists. He also appeared in three of its five playoff games, add
