DES MOINES, Iowa (KWQC) - Three Iowa state senators are asking for an audit of public funds used in the Des Moines Public Schools system after the arrest of the former superintendent.
Republican Sens. Jesse Green, Kerry Gruenhagen and Lynn Evans wrote a letter to state Auditor Rob Sand saying the reports of “ Ian Roberts and his lies, deceits and background discrepancies” demand a look by Sand.
On Sept. 26, ICE arrested Roberts, the superintendent of the state’s largest school district. He’s since been charged with having guns, and ICE released a criminal history that includes charges of drug possession.
The three say the Democratic auditor should be more concerned about the state’s largest school district than the Republican-backed Education Savings Account program.
