One person was critically injured in a shooting Wednesday in Cabazon, and a suspect was taken into custody.

Deputies responded at 2:11 p.m. Wednesday to a reported assault with a deadly weapon in the 49000 block of Seminole Drive, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Wenndy Brito-Gonzalez.

After obtaining a description of a suspect’s vehicle, deputies searched the nearby area and found the vehicle in Seminole Drive and Malki Road, where the unidentified person was arrested.

The victim’s name also was not released.

The cause of the shooting was under investigation.
