LEMMON, S.D. (KELO) -- Plans to bring a major fireworks show back to Mount Rushmore National Monument on July 3 next year are moving ahead and coming together better than they did the most recent time in 2020, according to one of South Dakota state government's leaders.

Tourism Deputy Secretary Wanda Goodman briefed members of the South Dakota Tourism Board during their meeting on Wednesday.

Goodman said Secretary Jim Hagen, public relations director Katlyn Svendsen and she have been meeting with officials from other state government agencies such as the Department of Transportation, Department of Public Safety and the Wildland Fire Division.
