UNC football coach Bill Belichick says he's "fully committed to UNC Football and the program we're building here," according to a school-issued statement released at 9:36 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8.

Following a day in which several reports indicated Belichick could be on his way out of Chapel Hill in his debut season, the university released two one-sentence statements from the 73-year-old coach and UNC athletics director Bubba Cunningham via the official X account of UNC football.

"Coach Belichick has the full support of the Department of Athletics and University," Cunningham said.

It’s been a disastrous start to the Belichick era. The Tar Heels (2-3, 0-1 ACC) have lost each of their first three games against Power 4 opponents by an average margin of 29 points.
