The Golden Knights have reportedly secured an eight-year, $108 million extension with center Jack Eichel, just hours before Vegas is set to open the regular season with a visit from the Los Angeles Kings.
Eichel, who had been in talks with the team throughout training camp to nail down a long-term deal, will earn an average salary of $13.5 million, according to ESPN on Wednesday.
Eichel, 28, was entering the final year of an eight-year, $80 million deal he originally signed with the Buffalo Sabres, who drafted him with the No. 2 overall pick of the 2015 NHL Draft.
Eichel came to the Knights via trade in 2021 and notched a league-high 26 points in 22 playoff games to help Vegas win its first Stanley Cup in 2023.
