BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - The Metro Council approved extending the city’s contract with Build Baton Rouge on Wednesday night, paving the way for the redevelopment of abandoned buildings that line Plank Road.

Old buildings with boarded-up windows are a common sight along the stretch of Plank Road, but as the road itself undergoes a much-needed makeover, the abandoned buildings will soon get one too.

“It seems in need of development and redemption, and I believe most of these buildings can be fixed up,” said Dashawn X, who lives in Baton Rouge and travels up and down Plank Road often.
