The man behind the wheel of a car that collided with a freight train at a level crossing near Albany, killing his female passenger, has been charged with careless driving.
The 40-year-old is accused of driving a motor vehicle without due care and attention following the crash in July in Redmond, 400 kilometres south of Perth.
The charge comes nearly three months after the crash, when the Mitsubishi Triton collided with a CBH grain train at an unsignalised level crossing on Redmond-Hay River Road.
The man, as well as three children in the car, were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
However his 29-year-old female passenger died at the scene from her injuries.
Two men on board the train were not hurt, but treated for shock.
