The Washington Nationals on Wednesday began the most sweeping organizational overhaul in team history, a process that included major changes to the team’s player development and scouting operations, according to multiple people in the organization who spoke to The Washington Post on the condition of anonymity to discuss the matter freely.

Three front-office executives, all with long histories in Washington, were among those let go: Eddie Longosz, an assistant general manager and vice president of player development; assistant GM Mark Scialabba; and Kris Kline, who for years served as scouting director before he was named a special assistant to the GM in September 2023. Head athletic trainer Paul Lessard, who spent a decade with the Nationals, also will not return.
