Multiple police officers in Lipscomb are now off the job, and the shake-up in the department is causing more confusion.

According to a city councilor, 10 officers resigned. WVTM 13 reached out to the current mayor and the current interim police chief, but were hung up on or didn’t get an answer. Now, the news is uncovering ongoing issues with the city’s financial status.

Lipscomb City Councilor Michelle Proctor said she was “livid” when she heard the news 10 officers resigned from the police department. Proctor also serves as the chair of public safety. She said she doesn’t know why the officers resigned, but if it’s because the city’s finances are in shambles, they can go ahead and go.
