The state government has yet to take firm action to save Tasmania's only large-scale private mental health clinic weeks out from imminent closure, a union has said.

It follows the announcement in mid-September that The Hobart Clinic, a 27-bed facility in Rokeby that has operated for more than 40 years, would close by October 31.
