Former ACT attorney-general Gordon Ramsay has appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court after being charged with grooming a teenage boy, in a case that has sent shockwaves through Canberra’s political circles.
The 61-year-old, who served as attorney-general under the ACT Labor government, is accused of encouraging a young person to engage in an act of a sexual nature over a two-year period between 2022 and 2024.
Mr Ramsay’s lawyer entered a plea of not guilty on his behalf during the brief court appearance on Thursday morning.
According to police, the case began with an anonymous tip-off in April, which prompted investigators to look into the former politician’s conduct.
