Taylor Swift has recalled how Travis Kelce once mistook Hugh Grant's wife for Greta Gerwig.

During an interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers on Wednesday, the music superstar shared a humorous interaction that her now-fiancé had at one of her The Eras Tour shows held in London in June 2024.

Taylor recounted how she advised Travis before the concert that his "favourite director" would be in one of the tents and urged him to introduce himself to Greta.

"(Travis) was like, 'Oh, my God, I really want to tell her how funny I thought (2023 movie) Barbie was.' And I'm like, 'You absolutely should. She's the sweetest, giggliest person to tell that you like their work. You're gonna love her,'" she smiled. "And so, the show happens. I'm like, 'Oh, my God, everyone's having the best time.' And afterward, you know, he gets in the car. He has had as many shots as everyone else has had."

Taylor remembered how Travis gushed over meeting the likes of Tom Cruise, Liam Hemsworth, Mila Kunis, and Hugh Grant in one of the celebrity zones.

Yet, the National Football League (NFL) player didn't mention meeting Greta.

"I think I told an annoying joke that she's heard too many times... I walked up to her and I was like, 'I love Barbie. I'm just Ken, too.' And then I pointed to you," Taylor quoted of Travis, with her noting it was a "solid joke".

"Well, she was really polite about it," the sportsman replied. "Like, she smiled politely, but she didn't say anything."

And while Taylor thought the interaction seemed "very out of character" for Greta, she suggested maybe the filmmaker had "heard that joke too many times".

Travis then opened up about how he had been talking to Hugh all night and pondered whether the English actor was making a movie with Greta.

"Like, they were really, really close," the Kansas City Chiefs player observed, noting Hugh and the Lady Bird filmmaker were "dancing all night" and seemed like "soulmates".

"I was like, 'The tea is crazy tonight, Travis,'" the 35-year-old pondered at the time.

But after scrolling through photos on her phone, Taylor realised Travis had actually been talking to Hugh's wife, Anna Eberstein.

"Is there any chance at all, baby, that you complimented Hugh Grant's wife, Anna, on her movie Barbie, said, 'I'm just Ken too,' and she politely nodded because she didn't have the heart to tell you she didn't direct it. And is there any chance that the people that look like soulmates are Hugh Grant and his soulmate?"

Hugh has not yet responded to Taylor's story.

But after the Notting Hill star attended the show, he expressed his gratitude to the Opalite hitmaker via X.

"Dear @taylorswift13, You have an incredible show, an amazing and v hospitable team and excellent if gigantic boyfriend (#tequilashots.). Thanks so much from one ageing London boy, wife and thrilled 8 year old (sic)," he wrote at the time.

Taylor is currently promoting her twelfth studio album, The Life of a Showgirl.
