Rattlesnake Ridge fire in Benton City stopped at 118 acres

Fire crews from multiple agencies were able to stop the progress of the fire that ignited on Rattlesnake Ridge, holding it to a footprint of 118 acres.

Officials from Benton County Fire District #2 reported that firefighters were first notified of the incident around 2:27 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. Upon dispatching a Duty Chief to the scene, air resources were requested due to the fire's growth and smoke column, as well as the Rattlesnake area's history of fires.

With collaborative efforts from Benton County Fire District #2, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, West Benton Fire Rescue and the Hanford Fire Department, a unified attack on the fire was conducted with both aerial and ground resources, preventing it from spreading beyond the district's b
