Nobel Prize in Literature 2025 Winner Announcement Live Updates: The Nobel Prize in Literature, one of the world’s most prestigious cultural honours, will be announced this evening. Since 1901, the Swedish Academy has awarded it 117 times to 121 laureates, recognising “the most outstanding work in an ideal direction.” The prize has not been without interruptions, it was withheld during the World Wars and on occasions when no suitable candidate was deemed to exist. Indian polymath Rabindranath Tagore won the award in 1913, while South Korea’s Han Kang won it last year.
