LAS VEGAS ( FOX5 ) — One year ago, 2:30 a.m. on October 9, 2024, Las Vegas said goodbye to one of the original Strip hotels. The Tropicana was imploded in spectacular fashion. The explosives accompanied by a drone show as thousands watched on. Saying goodbye to the Trop was a big step in saying hello to Athletics Baseball. The team’s stadium is now being built on the site.

Wednesday, plans took another big step forward. The Clark County Zoning Commission unanimously approved their development agreement with the Athletics to officially bring the team to the Strip. The agreement is legally-binding between the county and the baseball club. The agreement also outlines height restrictions since the stadium will be near Harry Reid Airport.
