Hunters in North Idaho have been advised to exercise caution before pulling the trigger, as Idaho Fish and Game officers are deploying life-like decoys to catch hunters breaking the law.

These artificial simulated animals, including moose, elk and deer, are being used to prevent illegal activities such as road hunting, spotlighting and trespassing.

Anyone caught shooting one of these decoys could face serious consequences. They might lose their hunting license, pay fines up to $1,000 and even spend six months in jail.

Hunters are urged to ensure their target is genuine and not a setup before taking a shot.
