ROCHESTER HILLS — Seemingly destined to be swept by Marian, Farmington Hills Mercy rallied to beat the Mustangs in five sets in the last of Wednesday’s Catholic League three volleyball finals at Oakland University.
The Mustangs won the first two games by scores of 25-20 and 25-18, then the Marlins overcame the odds and took the final three (25-18, 25-15, 15-10) to capture the Bishop Division title for a second year in a row.
Asked what the talk was in the huddle before the decisive set, Marlins junior Kate Kalczynski responded, “We’re winning this game. That’s what everyone said.”
