A 17-year-old has been charged in the Monday shooting of another teen in Hueytown.

The suspect is charged with attempted murder, police announced Wednesday. His name is not being released because of his age.

Officers were dispatched at 1:50 p.m. to a report of a person shot on the side of the road in the 4300 block of 15th Street.

They arrived to find another 17-year-old wounded beside his vehicle. He was alert and taken to UAB Hospital and remains in stable condition.

Chief Mike Yarbrough said investigators were given a possible suspect along with a vehicle description. Detectives were able to locate the vehicle in a remote area off Koppers Drive in Hueytown.

With the help of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the suspect’s vehicle was recovered.
