Their football lives intertwined since their days as youths, Lyrik Pettis and D’Various Surratt celebrated yet another shared accomplishment last week , the Crest High standouts selected to play in December’s Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas.

“(Being selected to the Shrine Bowl is) really big, a lot of big names have come through Crest and (had the opportunity) to play in the Shrine Bowl. It’s just an honor,” Pettis said.

Ahead of last Friday’s showdown with rival South Point, the pair was recognized at midfield along with Crest football coach Greg Lloyd, who will serve as an assistant at December’s game in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
