Michelle Wu’s decision to go ahead and headline a major anti-Trump rally this month is irresponsible and reckless, endangering her own police at a time when they are being targeted by violent protesters.

The Boston mayor should turn down the invitation to speak at the rally on Boston Common and instead try to calm what is already a tense situation between police and increasingly violent protesters.

But instead she defended the planned Oct. 18 protest day and said she intended to speak at it.
