A pregnant woman was forced to walk nearly 2 km on a muddy road to reach an ambulance as there was no proper road connectivity to a remote tribal thanda in Kangti mandal on Wednesday.
The road connecting Vachyu Nayakthanda from the Kangti–Pitlam road had become completely slushy following heavy rains that lashed the district over the past two months.
The woman, Nikitha
Bhai, developed labour pains on Wednesday, prompting her family to call the 108 ambulance service. However, the ambulance could not reach the village due to the poor road condition, forcing Nikitha Bhai to walk about 1.5 km before she could board the vehicle.
She was taken to the area hospital at Kangti, where she delivered a baby boy. Both the mother and the infant are reported to be in good health.
