The Pembroke and Area Cross Country Ski Club (PAXC) is gearing up for a smoother season thanks to a $56,100 grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).

The club, which received the capital grant money in 2024, used it to purchase new trail grooming and trail maintenance equipment including a new grooming machine (essentially and ATV with tracks) and a new tractor implement to mow trails during the fall trail clean-up.

According to Alicia Berthiaume, a member of the PAXC Board of Directors, the project to provide better trail maintenance and grooming seeks to boost trail use during the season which in turn helps foster healthy, active lifestyles.

“This equipment will help PAXC get the trails in top shape, enabling users to enjoy more time on skis with optimal conditions,” Berthiaum
