Ahmedabad: Noting that the allegations are serious in nature, the Gujarat High Court dismissed the discharge plea of a medical student of GMERS Medical College and Hospital, accused of ragging a first-year student who was made to stand for three hours, which reportedly led to his death on November 16, 2024.

During the hearing, Single Bench Justice R T Vachhani observed that the case involves serious charges, and the court’s revisional powers are limited. As a result, the court cannot discharge the accused from the case at this stage and the matter will go for trial.

"When the charges alleged against the petitioner - accused in consonance with the statement of the witnesses and other material is examined, it appears that the offence of serious nature is alleged against the petitioner
