CHICO — While the Chico City Council voted to support progress on the North State Shelter Team’s tiny homes in church parking lots plan, the administrative process for implementing it is still uncertain.
The Safe Spot Community Proposal would allow churches to house older women in tiny homes in their parking lots. The homes would potentially have sinks, “a water flush sanipotty” and RV-style stove tops and refrigerators. The shelter team has pushed for the plan at past Homeless Committee meetings, which are chaired by Mayor Kasey Reynolds and made up by councilors Bryce Goldstein and Mike O’Brien.
Reynolds brought up the discussion on the project during Tuesday’s council meeting and said she wanted city staff to explore any code amendments needed for the plan to happen. Community Develop
