Mikie Sherrill and Jack Ciattarelli met face to face at the New Brunswick Performing Arts Center in their final debate Wednesday night as New Jersey voters look to head to the polls in less than a month to elect the state’s next governor.

The race has grown increasingly testy between the Democratic and Republican nominees with Election Day approaching on Nov. 4. That animosity spilled out onto the debate stage in New Brunswick.

Sherrill and Ciattarelli fielded questions from the moderators — local TV news anchors Tamala Edwards and Bill Ritter — on key affordability issues that have long dominated the race, such as skyrocketing energy bills and high property taxes.
