There is something quite amusing about the world's most cash-strapped football club fluttering their eyelashes in the direction of Erling Haaland.

Barcelona have to pull various levels every summer to try and register the players they do have, but apparently, president Joan Laporta has made Haaland his "dream" signing. Presumably, that dream also involves a record-breaking win on the EuroMillions lottery, because there is no other way a basket case of a club could afford him.

City are hardly sweating over talk in Catalunya that Barcelona would quite like Haaland. In truth, it's not exactly a transfer story that has caught fire. Everyone involved seems to accept it isn't going to happen.
