Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has initiated concrete steps to strengthen the drainage system in Bhubaneswar in collaboration with IIT Roorkee.

Sharing this information on Thursday, Housing and Urban Development Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra said that IIT Roorkee is preparing a comprehensive master plan to address waterlogging issues in the capital city. ADVERTISEMENT

Stating that the master plan is nearing completion, he said a Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared after the plan is ready.

Noting that the existing drainage system in Bhubaneswar suffers from several flaws and deficiencies, the Minister said these issues are now being addressed through planned interventions.

Once the DPR is finalised, new construction works will be taken up to resolve the waterlogging
