Prashant Kishor's Jan Suraaj Party on Thursday released its first list of 51 candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, scheduled in two phases in November across 243 seats. The list features a mathematician, celebrated police officers, and academicians, which highlights the party's strategic posture, unlike that of traditional parties that have towed caste, religious and dynastic lines. Instead, Jan Suraaj, which has harped big on merit, public welfare, and clean governance, has signalled for a fresh political narrative centred around capability and integrity rather than caste, religion and dynasty.
