Director and auteur Paul Thomas Anderson delivers once again with the high-energy, comedically-induced thrill ride “One Battle After Another,” a politically-charged chase through revolution-incited paranoia. Anderson has such a unique touch that magnificently blends natural comedy with dark, emotional weight. There isn’t a director working today with a vision quite like his, with this film taking on wildly relevant themes of immigration and the oppression of people in refuge. With such an untethered, moving story, the feeling of paranoia is only enhanced by this phenomenal cast.
The entire ensemble is simply sensational, but the two undeniable standouts are Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro.
