Soon after the Yankees’ 5-2 loss to the Blue Jays on Wednesday, officially eliminating them from the postseason, manager Aaron Boone delivered an emotional message.

In it, he praised players and coaches for giving everything they had in pursuit of a title. He also gave credit to his opponents, as they enjoyed a champagne celebration in the visitors’ clubhouse — the second straight year that another team celebrated advancing in the postseason on their home field.
