LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Brett Hankison, the ex-LMPD officer convicted in the Breonna Taylor case, is now in prison.
A judge ordered him to turn himself on Thursday to begin his 33 month sentence for violating Taylor's civil rights in 2020.
According to FCI Fort Dix, Hankison is now in custody there. That's a low-security federal prison in New Jersey, about an hour east of Philadelphia.
Hankison blindly fired 10 times into Taylors home in March 2020 from the outside.

While she died, none of his bullets hit her. The shot that killed her came from another officer, Myles Cosgrove.
Before now, Hankison had not spent any time behind bars.
Hankison tried to have his sentence delayed 60 to 90 days so he could appeal his conviction, but the judged recently denied it .
