I blame the Kardashians. Paris Hilton, a little bit. Definitely the orange guy in the White House. Maybe Ronald Reagan, too. Whatever the causes, Americans have a serious case of celebrity fixation. And celebrities – at least some of them – have a serious case of runaway ego.

Two recent cases in point: The sports blabbermouth Stephen A. Smith is entertaining notions of running for president. And the college football huckster Paul Finebaum is considering running for the U.S. Senate from Alabama.
